Even so, they retained several abilities and strengths as a result of their long connection to the Force. However, when their home planet of Yuuzhan'tar was destroyed, the species lost its connection to the Force. Fostering a symbiotic relationship with their home planet, the Yuuzhan Vong as a species became Force-sensitive, making them extremely powerful. The Yuuzhan Vong are particularly important in Star Wars Legends because of their connection to the Force. Ahsoka changed that so that anyone can use the Force if they are disciplined enough to train.

During the Prequels, Force sensitivity was based on the amount of microscopic beings in a person's blood, these beings were called Midichlorians.Eventually, the Yuuzhan Vong's traveling led them to the Star Wars galaxy about 25 years after the Battle of Yavin. Wherever they arrived, however, they left a trail of death and destruction in their wake. They set off on their voyages with little idea where they would end up. However, they were far from refugees in this endeavor, but rather conquerors. The destruction of their galaxy led the Yuuzhan Vong to explore other galaxies in the Star Wars universe. At some point after the war, Yuuzhan'tar was destroyed along with much of the rest of the galaxy, leaving the surviving Yuuzhan Vong to wander as nomads throughout their galaxy to put down new roots. This conflict proved costly to the alien species, which went on to foster a deep and unyielding hatred for droids in general. Thousands of years before the events of the Skywalker Saga, the Yuuzhan Vong were engaged in a massive civil war between two warring droid factions in their galaxy. Their homeworld is far outside the known reaches of the Star Wars galaxy, making them entirely unknown to the characters therein, though other extra-galactic civilizations like the Chiss Ascendency were aware of their existence. In Star Wars Legends, the Yuuzhan Vong hail from a distant planet known as Yuuzhan'tar.
